Medicine is currently facing new paradigms. Many of the axioms on which we have built the pyramid of knowledge are being discussed and in many cases, modified. Although the fusion of medicine and technology has shown positive results for decades, in recent years there has been a true revolution with a significant impact on veterinary medicine. Veterinary anesthesiology has benefited from this union, in the production of diagnostic and monitoring equipment never imagined before. The addition of nerve stimulation and high-resolution ultrasound to the chapter of regional anesthesia allowed for the development of new nerve approaches and techniques for numerous clinical situations. The content of this book has been specially created for it. Almost all the pictures have been taken in the Anesthesia Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Buenos Aires, after obtaining the corresponding consent from the owner’s and from the authorities of University. All the animals have been treated according to the current ethical care guidelines. It is our wish that this book helps the readers to incorporate a new method of working to their daily practice. We also wish that new generations find in this text the drive to grow in the amazing world of veterinary anesthesia.
